Erica and Christopher Slate leave their hometown when it becomes destroyed by marauders. Their heroes are a band of three adventuresome brothers who try to help the siblings. Erica still living within unknown fears, feels the need escape. With one of the brother's aid, the Slates travel to a small North American settlement. When tragedy comes in the fashion of severe illness, Erica must rely on the support of an unknown widower. Through him, she learns of love, trust, and magic.
