Publisher Marketing: Told from the point of view of a historian tasked with summarizing the generative influences of the most seminal moment in the history of an entire inter-planetary species, this story explores the convoluted mechanics of what some might call the Divine Intent, and which others may call the workings of an indescribably complex clock-work universe. On another world, a civilization far evolved beyond us in intellect and science is nonetheless spiritually and socially stunted. Violence and war have been unknown to them until recently. They ask, "How can this be endured or dealt with, or even survived?" To find this answer they send an involuntary student to a distant world (Earth) inhabited by similar beings that seem inured and adapted to violence and war. If they don't learn the answer they are likely destined to disappear from existence. But is the student's answer more deadly than the threat itself? Inspired by a messianic vision she is viewed by some as being the manifestation of the Divine will, and by others as the very incarnation of all they feared and hoped to avoid. She is either the coming of hell on Galrote or perhaps the only salvation of both the conquering and the conquered. Contributor Bio:  Huston, Baxter Baxter Huston This is my first full-length novel. As this is being written, I am finishing the details of four other novels and a one act play which will, if all goes as planned, be available sometime in 2015. There will never be a sequel to this story, but all my stories have a common thread. All are inspired by what I think of as 'Big Questions.' The question that stimulated this story went something like this; "Why must the human race cycle repeatedly through the achievement of new heights of cultural, social and what some call spiritual evolutionary development, only to plunge back into moral, social and cultural debauchery and decay? What would be the problem with humanity evolving socially and spiritually along a smooth and linear ascent free of war and horror? Why must religion be a cause of cycles of divisiveness when its various authors invariably intended it to be a source of unity and cohesiveness for the human race?" My next novel (The Hadrite Student) will ask the question, "If a religion meant for the denizens of Earth was transported to another world, what kind of influence could it exert? Would that influence look the same as it does on Earth?" As of this writing, I am a retired registered nurse and live contentedly in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada with Anne, my wife. I can be found if one really wants to find me, but I'm not by nature inclined to splash myself all over the internet. I have a 'Facebook' page which I check somewhat religiously for 30 seconds, twice annually. If someone wishes to contact me, I can be emailed at retxab09@gmail.com
