Joseph Wane Botham starts his life wanting to be a doctor. He feels the only way to accomplish this is to join the Army. After he finishes high school and two years of college with ROTC training, he does join the Army. He proceeds to go through the ranks to become a Full General. Along the way, he marries his first wife, Linda whose ex-boyfriend can't and won't live without her. Whether she's married or not. Then Joseph marries his second wife, who becomes a combat nurse and goes to Vietnam with Joe. Unforeseen circumstances happen every once and a while to almost everyone. Joe has to deal with his demons and face what he is doing to his body. Which forces him to retire from the Army. Once Joe is retired he finds out he has a daughter by Ginger but she won't tell him she is his. He has to make Ginger tell him what is going on.
