Who Can Curly Trust is a book that addresses the therapeutic processes in a way that children and low functioning teenagers/adults can understand. Confidentiality is a major of part of the functions of psychotherapy, especially with children. Confidentiality plays an important role in the administration of individual and group therapy. This children?s picture book takes the reader through the process of attending therapy and explores issues such as confidentiality that can be understood in a non threatening manner. Today many clinicians see children who have been victims of sexual trauma, neglect, bullying, foster care, arguing parents and many other phenomena that have victimized them. These children often have emotional, psychological, and behavioral symptoms that affect them on a daily basis. When children have been victims of significant trauma they build walls around themselves and distrust not only other people but the world in general (i.e. Freud?s oral stage of development; trust vs. mistrust).
