Leah Baker is a 12 year old Foster Kid from Miami who doesn't really fit in anywhere. Not at the home, where she's the oldest, and not at school where she's the youngest. All she really wants is for someone to adopt her, and this person is French teacher Miss Bidnic! Leah grows closer to Miss Bidnic on a class trip that Audrey, who works at the home, surprised her with and keeps telling herself to ask Miss Bidnic to adopt her but keeps missing her chance until it's too late.
