I believe Ruth to be one of the most significant books in all of Scripture. If we wish to learn about the nature of God, Ruth can tell us. If we want to think about the proper roles of men and women in a society, Ruth has those ideas. When we struggle with the proper Christian role in taking care of the poor, we can find instructions in the book of Ruth. For those who struggle with being disabled and trying to find their place in a society that was not developed for them, Ruth can bring comfort, insight and hope. When we think about the violence and war that surround our present reality, we can find some small answers in this book. Finally, since institutional racism still remains as one of the largest problems in the USA, we find a compelling commentary on that subject in the book of Ruth. Love is the theme of Ruth and should be the theme of the Christian?s worldview today.
