The Degrees of Reading Power (DRP(R)) section of the CMT 4 Language Arts test measures reading as a process in which students attempt to make sense of the text they read. The DRP(R) test consists of a number of nonfiction passages on a variety of topics. Within these passages, words have been deleted and the student must choose the correct word for each deletion in the text. Many standardized tests for reading use the Cloze method. Queue's CMT 4 Cloze Reading workbooks follow the precise format of the DRP(R) portion of the CMT 4 Language Arts test. Each book provides several dozen nonfiction passages for students to practice mastering this often difficult and challenging reading exercise. As on the actual CMT 4 Language Arts test DRP(R) section, the passages increase in difficulty. Many of these passages cover topics relevant to Connecticut history, science, and landmarks and are, therefore, of special interest to Connecticut students.
