An ancient evil threatens to consume the world, waging a war against the guardians of creation that has already lasted thousands of years. In the Elf province of Ganeuen, Calla has a lot on her mind: planning for her best friend's wedding, a stepmother who hates her for no clear reason, and a potential career in the Royal Guard. But she has a secret she's kept from everyone her whole life: she hears strange voices on the air that somehow seem connected to the environment around her. She thinks it might be a sign of insanity until a Nymph turns up to tell her it's a side effect of magic--her own innate magic, similar to that of the long-dead Druid order. Calla doesn't believe in myths and magic, but when she faces enchanted creatures and dark magic she has to run. After being rescued from the agents of the darkness by a wanderer with secrets of his own she is quickly drawn into the war of the Gods where she must make a choice: reject her power and risk losing everything, or embrace it in order to meet her destiny. The future of the world hangs in the balance.
