Publisher Marketing: Chicago Police Officer, Angela Companera and her partner, Don Heathcote are requested to check on a resident of a Gold Coast apartment. The Assistant District Attorney thought that Jack Bell, the resident in question may be involved in some shady real estate deals. Angela is puzzled by the reaction of her partner who appears to be very reluctant to serve a warrant on Bell. Angela becomes even more suspicious when Don tries to use his cell phone prior to search of Jack Bell's apartment. The police officers serve the warrant to a very irate and nervous Jack Bell, who calls his attorney as Angela and Don search the premises. As Angela and Don are leaving the apartment building, they are attacked by two men. Angela is shot four times and left for dead. Angela is rushed to the hospital, and is found to be clinging to life. Her neurosurgeon is able to sustain her life signs, though she takes weeks before she is out of critical care. Throughout her stay in the hospital, her family, and the Assistant District Attorney are with her in an effort to prevent the would be killer from completing his task. The story unfolds as Angela begins her recovery, and starts investigating a series of crimes involving some very powerful people. The criminals are determined that nothing will stop their activities. Angela and the assistant DA risk their lives to unravel the plot, fraught with deception, betrayal and murder. Contributor Bio:  Cools, Joseph The author is a Ph.
