The story takes place in a small town in Costa Rica where a white faced monkey mother and her baby start coming out of the forest to eat fruit that is being left out for them. Slowly over time the baby monkey starts trusting the young boy who is leaving the food out for them and little by little they start spending more time together. The seven year old boy named Jose has very little knowledge about monkeys and has no idea how he can become friends with a monkey. With help from his mother, grandfather and his best friend Alberto they all learn together how to build trust and friendship with a wild monkey. This friendship does not come easy or without pain. But with respect and love, Alex and Jose become lifelong friends.
