Custer's Last Stand and Why

Publisher Marketing: Dale, I have finished two readings through your booklet and feel that I am as prepared to comment on it now as I ever will be, so here goes. WARNING... I do not give rave reviews unless the material warrants it IMO. Your book was entertaining, informative, and quite disorganized in my viewpoint, and I learned much from the experience of reading it. Your artwork added much to the flavor of the text, and although it will not rank you among the great artists of history, was certainly craftsman-like and pleasant to view. The description of your life's adventures and the people you have met and befriended as a consequence certainly gives credence that you have learned much along the way that is frequently not available or understood by the community of your fellow travelers, and that you are uniquely qualified to apply these lessons to the edited news and disinformation that is commonly fed to us. And I have no problem with your presumption that this purposeful withholding and distortion of information has always been with us, and has affected the entire history of mankind including the Civil War and Custer's last stand. As one of my favorite history teachers said, "The nature of man does not change." If I had to choose one bone to pick with your booklet, it would be the title. Personally, I learned much more about the life and times of Dale McLain than I did about Custer's Last Stand. You have been privileged to lead an exceptionally interesting life that includes driving and piloting just about every kind of craft I ever heard of. And your guile and cunning ways (now I understand how you and Frank hit it off so well) is on display throughout the book. Your use of terms (e.g., Ruptured Duck and WVAL) often sent me scrambling to Google to fill in the subject material I had never been exposed to. Wrapping it up, reading your book was a very pleasant experience, and I am indebted to you for providing the material. Thank You ! Bill Burkett
