When author Mysterious was three years old, her mother was murdered by her husband. That was the end of the happy life she knew as a toddler and the beginning of a nightmare. Mysterious was adopted by her grandfatherbut not because he loved her or out of the goodness of his heart. Instead, he was motivated by cash and control; the support check that came from the military for her each month was the primary reason he took Mysterious in.
