On September 11, 2001, the citizens of the United States were shocked by the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. Americans were angry to learn that the FBI and the CIA had failed to protect them from known Islamic terrorists who had been allowed to not only live within our borders, but to also be able to openly train to become airline pilots at our own flight schools. Unbridled fear swept across the country like a tidal wave that threatened to engulf every living soul. The hidden fact that would have made the citizens even more fearful was that not all of the jihadists were martyred in the airliner crashes. Two terrorist sleeper cells remained in New York and in San Diego, California. These terrorist cells were already actively planning the next huge al Qaeda assault: a nuclear attack on the most vibrant city in the West: Los Angles, California. Is such an attack possible? Can it be successful? The facts are a chilling reminder of our vulnerability, but the American spirit lives on.
