Most people's vision of migrating and living in a foreign country is usually one that is driven by the clichéd view of "streets paved with gold" and an abundance of opportunities to pursue that will ultimately make them rich. Beyond that, the alternate view is that even if the riches never come, there is the chance that at the very least they may be able to earn enough to take care of not only themselves, but also to send a little something home to support kith and kin that have been left behind. This book takes a look at the author's own experiences as he takes on the task of migrating to the United States of America. It provides a snapshot of his experiences as a new immigrant as he comes to terms with the economic, cultural and social challenges of assimilating a new country. The book provides a checklist of key issues and decisions that the new immigrant must address in order to transition into his/her new environment.
