Publisher Marketing: No present, no history of tomorrow; no still thought or savage furrow; no light or dark, no rainbow; no heat or cold, no sorrow; no hell or heaven, no gods to follow. Equal the worm, the luckless dodo; the lovers, the fruit of cupid's arrow; the torturer, the strong to gallow; the prophet, the healer, the hollow; the leaders we follow. INVERSION is a gothic crime thriller set in near-future London. It begins with David Lewis, a dogged police officer, who goes in search of the truth about a missing friend and vagrant only to discover the truth about himself, his lover and the rest of the millions who work, live or beg amongst the grimy back streets and alleyways that snake through the heart of London's Theatreland. Brutality stalks the final moments of many in this story of love, betrayal and exploitation. Ordinary people get caught up in extraordinary events that threaten to twist their very existence out of all recognition. They have a choice: capitulate or fight - be a silent victim or risk everything. Maxwell York moved to London as a graphic design student in the 1970s, where he has since remained, spending many years working for creative agencies based in or around Covent Garden and Soho. He is married with two children and lives near Richmond Park on the outskirts of London. INVERSION is the author's first novel.
