An eight year old girl is kidnapped from her school. Her teacher is brutally murdered. Her father is a detective and forbidden to work the case. His best friend and fellow detective, Michelle Eddings, is his best hope. Eddings, however, is fighting a battle with incapacitating agoraphobia and is becoming increasingly afraid of leaving her house.
