From a lively old woman serving free coffee on the roadside in Indiana, to a sweet, young farm boy in Illinois, to wild and dangerous robbers in Missouri, to a heartbroken hitchhiker in Kansas, to a lonely auto mechanic in Colorado. Their lives touch each other as she passes through. When she reaches San Francisco she can finally free herself of the only life she ever knew and let the future take her where it will.
