Marge Knolton, an accomplished artist, puts her career on hold and paints bombers for the US Air Force during WWII while her husband, Walt serves as a surgeon in the Army in Europe. When the war ends, they live in an apartment on the top floor at the Mid-Towne Towers, and Walt refuses Marge's pleas for a baby. He says that is no place to raise a child. Then, Walt buys a house in a new subdivision. Marge hopes he will agree to having a family, but he still refuses. Marge hires Mitch Ferris and Shingo Tanaka to do the landscaping around the new house. She begins sketching plans of flower gardens for customers and wonders . . . Can she revitalize her career as an artist? Walt is in the Army Reserves. North Koreans attack South Korea, and he is recalled and sent overseas. While Walt is gone, Marge utilizes the farm land she inherited from her Grandmother and forms a Landscaping Nursery business with Ferris and Tanaka. Walt is declared missing in action, and she works at the Nursery to conceal her loneliness and fears. Marge falls in love with Mitch, but Walt is still on the MIA list. Legally she is still married to him, but is caught in 'limbo' unable to go forward with her life, until . . .
