Anna has fled the US and driven to the ends of the Earth, a remote Mexican beach town. After suffering an unbearable tragedy, she tries to drink her life away. Kevin, once a successful dentist, has fled the US as well, ostracized after a negligent accident in his office leaves one of his patients dead. An avid swimmer who would die if he were not allowed to enter the ocean, he is one day made aware of Anna's plight and is determined to help her, no matter how much she resists him.
