Fleeing her home in Atlanta because of a violent encounter, Lila Dawkins stumbles on the small town of Antioch, Mississippi. Charmed by the town and its inhabitants, Lila sells her home in the city and moves to a farmhouse, where she discovers a decades-old painting featuring her own face. Lila goes to question the artist, Berniece Messer, but the woman has disappeared, leaving behind a house filled with her amazing art. While seeking the artist, Lila uncovers another mystery, one that proves far more important and changes her life forever.
