My Beautiful World: About a lively young boy 'Mark' who introduces his many different school friends through out the book. He enjoys going to school and explains why his friends are so special. Parents, carers and teachers are erged to read with children and explain that equality is something that every child has the right to regardless of age, gender, race, physical apperance, etc... It is an essential tool for children to learn and understand the foundation of identity and differnece before they can apply it to everyday life in and out of school. This brings forward opportunities for children to ask questions, share different experiences, to think about themselves and be proud of who they are. This entwines with citizenship, which in turn can only prepare children from the early years to appreciate different individuals. Appropriate to key stage 1 reading.
