Sophia, a girl in her late teens, is estranged from her father because of her twice-divorced mother's deceitful and manipulative ways. She manages to re-establish a relationship with her father in spite of her mother's objections. Her dysfunctional family consists of her neurotic mother; Jack, her stepfather; and Peggy, her promiscuous older stepsister. Living in Peggy's shadow has been difficult for Sophia. Her father reveals a secret about her true identity, which explains the obvious differences between the stepsisters. Clutch, Sophia's boyfriend, gives stability to her chaotic life.
