Running on Empty

Elva's 16th birthday she got the day off. She lived with and worked for her Uncle David who took her in when her mother died in a fire when she was only 3. Elva has never been on a date but finds she enjoys her time with Detroit so much she asked her uncle to let her off so she can go again. For that he beats her so badly she ends up in the hospital with broken bones. Her best friend's mother allows her to go live with them, but the mom's boyfriend doesn't like Elva and attempts to kill her. Elva wonders if her life can get any worse? She ends up in a new foster home that does allow her to continue to see her boyfriend. Elva thinks things have finally turn up, but have they? Will the man find her and if so then what?
