And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" Perhaps if Adam and Eve were more thankful for what they already had, and not looking for what they thought they wanted, things would be different. The same is true with us, we are admonished to count our blessings because we tend to forget what we already have."Thank you," we say it every day. And many times in a day. But why? We were told by our parents it is the polite thing to say. "Please and thank you." And then we drill it into our own children. In American society "please and thank you" go a long way. We are told, it is only being polite. Being polite, yes, but in the Bible, it goes much deeper than that. We shall see that saying, "Thank You" and having a constant attitude of thankfulness and gratitude is actually a form of godliness. Or if it is not a form of godliness, it goes a long way to keep us out of sin. How you might ask? If you are more concerned with being polite, saying please and thank you and having an attitude of gratefulness as the Bible encourages us, you have less time to be working on the evil you might do. That is the "how."This book explores the words "Thank you," and how they are used in the Bible. Thank you and gratitude are the keys to a fulfilled life. The book goes on to cover what we thank God for, ways of thanking Him as well as benefits to us. The chapter on "The Magnificent God" comes next.
