Famous tenor, Owen Shepherd doesn't know it yet, but the past twenty-five years of his life never happened. The first clue comes as a momentary throbbing headache during his ritzy retirement party. Then come the strange memories of a dingy apartment he's never seen, and the woman with the green eyes he's never met. His long-time best friend and boss, Richard, doesn't want him to quit the opera, and neither does his beautiful wife, Laura. They think he's gone insane when he starts talking about buying a quaint cottage out in the Muskoka, where he plans to pursue his lifelong dream of composing his own music. But he's determined to prove his naysayers wrong -- determined to prove to them that his retirement cottage is perfect; and it is perfect, except for the bloody corpses in the upstairs bathroom that no one but Owen can see, and the dark figures that visit the house during the night. Owen assumes the gruesome apparitions are in his head, but really, they're the only real things he's seen in the past twenty-five years.
