Amazon Marketing Service (AMS) for Authors Scott La Counte

You've probably heard the success stories: au-thor self-publishes book and now they've quit their job and are living off the income. What author wouldn't want to be that person?

The fact is most authors are not. In fact, most self-published authors are probably earning less than $50 a year from their book.
$50 a year! That's depressing! People spend months--years even--writing their book. And all they have to show for it is $50? You probably didn't write the book for money. Money would be nice, but what you really want is readers. You want to know someone out there is reading your book.

Self-publishing used to be the future. People were saying it was the death of traditional publish-ing. What happened? Why is it so hard to get noticed?

There are a lot of things that contribute, but it's fair to say oversaturation is one of them. When peo-ple bragged about how much they were making off self-publishing it was years ago. Yes, there are ex-ceptions. There always will be. But when Kindle was first introduced there simply weren't as many writers publishing. Even books in niche markets are com-peting with dozens of other authors.

So, what do you do? In a word: advertise.

Amazon Marketing Service (AMS) is a way to market your book to the right readers cheaply and effectively. Think of it like Google AdWords for books. Imagine, you think your book is perfect for someone who likes Harry Potter. With AMS, you can deliver an add to the people who are searching for a book like that.

This book will walk you through what it is, how it works, and if it's right for you.
