Can you judge a book by its cover? The Bible teaches us not to judge anyone, but we're all guilty of doing it. In some cases, our preconceived notions are accurate; however, there are cases when our preconceived notions are inaccurate. On the surface, many would think that I had a great upbringing. I am the youngest of two in conjunction with a career in education and a career in the military. Contrary to the present, I have a past that didn't project my accomplishments. Were you neglected by your father? Were you mistreated by your mother? Were you deprived of a childhood? Were you doubted by your peers and loved ones?Welcome to my world. Over the course of our lives, there are certain aspects of our pasts that we try to suppress. Honestly, does it really help? A wound doesn't heal without the proper treatment...it festers. You can't expect to evolve if you don't address issues that plague you. Despite my triumph from many years of adversity, I wasn't happy. After years of feeling incomplete, I had an epiphany. I wasn't being honest with myself. I was more focused on portraying an image to the public that didn't coincide with how I was actually feeling. A change was needed. I made the difficult decision to become transparent. Even though it required revisiting moments in my life that are heart-wrenching, I needed to address those wounds. I needed self-healing. As you read this book, brace yourself for the journey that ultimately led to me becoming an author.
