Duke and Miguel are continuing their exploration and research of the world of Peridia, a fantasy world with rules of its own. While coming to terms with the the different natural laws that govern the new world, they struggle to survive and make a home for themselves among the beleaguered villagers they have championed. While our two heroes make themselves at home, two new arrivals, Dr. Jun Abe and Dr. Maria Ventura, encounter an unlikely ally in the form of a mysterious magical being. Ventura and Abe, while searching for Duke and Miguel, must struggle to adapt in their own way, as they live among the people of this new world that are so familiar and yet so foreign. Meanwhile, on the other side of the black hole, humanity's first mission to achieve interstellar travel, led by Dr. Sung, must find a way to contact their lost crew members who have traveled through the black hole while avoiding the pitfalls of political machinations swirling in a solar system nearing population capacity. Will humanity find a way to expand its borders beyond our solar system? Will the explorers set adrift in a parallel universe find themselves among friends or foes? The answers will only be found as our protagonists pass, Between the Dragons.
