"A walking dead", lost and caught up in the vicious world of hard drugs I said I would never smoke crack cocaine! I never thought of myself as one who could become prone to addiction. In my 20s and 30s I kept a good job, maintained a intact family and no history of drug addiction or psychiatric illness. For the most part I used drugs occasionally or "recreational". However, I was strapped with a serious drug problem: I was snorting heroin, snorting cocaine and finally smoking rock cocaine, and could not stop. I did not seek out professional help until I hit rock bottom. I had come to the discouraging realization that using these drugs was no longer a choice for me-it had become an uncontrollable obsession. Being caught off guard by my drug problem.
