Most kids are nervous going to a new school, but it's even harder for Betsy; because, she is trying to hide a secret. She can't read like everyone else. But over time, she learns she is much smarter than she thinks, and everyone learns things in their own special way.

Betsy Did It introduces the topic of dyslexia and how children can learn to read with the proper support. Author Patricia Prevosti used her personal experience as a reading specialist and mom to a child with dyslexia in creating this fictional story. Her goal is to allow teachers in classrooms around the world an opportunity to share that a story that demonstrates how we all learn differently. It should encourage children to not give up, but instead, to find a way to learn that fits their needs. The story also shows the effects of bullying and how similar situations can be handled.
