Are we born evil? Or does life shape us that way? On a Different Day is set against the backdrop of contemporary London. When Maya Fullbright is murdered in the shadow of the Holmville Estate in Camden, north London, the consequences of her death shake the local community. The characters in the book come from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences and all are linked due to the crime. This crime fiction drama gives voice to the fears, hopes and prejudices of those directly or indirectly linked to the crime and shows how it impacts on each of their lives. Beyond the story lie deeper considerations, such as Nature vs Nurture. Are we the victims of our environment and upbringing, or do our genes influence who we become? On a different day, would the outcome have been any different?
