South Carolina Congressman Jasper Thorne has developed a reputation for passionately fighting for the conservative values being shunned by the governmental elite. Believing the power of state rights is the only way to combat the oppressive influence of federal government, he announces his candidacy for governor. Spurned by these events, the state congress of South Carolina passes a bill to allow its citizens to vote to secede from the nation.
