It's the 1950s on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City, the most diversified area in the world. There were immigrants of every ethnicity, learning how to live together as one people, without prejudice to others, their nationality, religion, race, or their choice of lifestyle. Everyone was struggling and working towards a common goal of a better life for themselves and their descendants. Although the area was low income, it was very vibrant, rich in tradition, loaded with energy, and filled with adventurous, determined, rough around the edges people. From this one geographic area emerged some of the most exciting and successful people in the world. Welcome to my story, where music transformed not only my life, but also a whole neighborhood. It all began while we were singing doo-wop on... The Stoop!
