America Is Furry
Andy Holt
A giant malamute named America narrates the patriotic story of her and her siblings, Liberty, Freedom and Patriot. She discusses the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th. She also talks about the Battle of Belleau Wood where the Marine nickname "Devil Dogs" originated and also covers the origins and meaning behind Memorial Day and Veterans Day. A good way to share the importance of patriotic holidays with young readers.
