This book is in line with the United States Common Core Mathematics Initiative for Grades K-2. It includes objectives such as number decomposition, using place value to add and subtract, and other methods to help young children build number sense and learn how to add and subtract without finger counting. It is an excellent complement to the conceptual and procedural approach to the new curriculum and slowly builds concepts in small developmental steps while also factoring in constant review.
