During the least parented generation in U. S. history, four very different teens learn the value of friendship in the midst of facing their greatest fears. Ben's 13 during the summer of 1985 and afraid of everything, even his own dreams. Lee, the resident so-called 'delinquent', saves Ben from a group of bullies. Despite what everyone says, Ben believes Lee isn't a bad person and they become close. Lee opens the door for the ostracized Ben to finally make friends. Ben's new friends convince him to steal his parent's credit card so they can go on a surfing trip while Ben's parents are away on business. At a local beach, two college girls coax the kids into going to Mexico, if they really want a surfing adventure. While in Mexico, the kids discover who they are and what is really important to them through all manner of mishaps; getting their VW bus stuck in a sand bank, stepping on jelly fish, VW bus gas line breaking, all their stuff getting stolen by the Mexican mafia, having to get it back by confronting the head of the mafia and dealing with sharks. Through all the persevering, they discover the true meaning of friendship.
