Having been witness to the vicious spousal abuse of a dear friend in the mid-'90s, he found his life as a promising law student taking a dire left turn when the authorities charged him with the killing of her husband. In 2001 he was convicted of homicide by a Texas court of law and sent to prison, remaining there until 2006. Today he lives with his wife and children in Calgary where he is a business owner.
