He is struggling to live an honorable life amidst the pressures of high school, the pull of the streets and the anger, belittling and racism he is surrounded with at home. Despite his gifts as an athlete, his popularity and intelligence; his quest for virtue becomes clouded by wounded pride. His inability to control his rage results in a descent into revenge, blind destruction, loss and madness. He becomes a beast crying out in the wilderness for the things he has lost?family, friends, love, college. It is a story about redemption after the fall, the story of a highly talented young man struggling with what it means to be a man, what it means to be a warrior, what it means to live an honorable life?to find his place in the world. He is forced to choose between recovering his humanity or continue to devolve into a beast while being forever marked by the harsh realities of life on New York City streets and Rikers Island prison.
