Weingand has created a world and characters that feel natural and relatable, despite being in a magical realm where anything can happen. Gamesmanship and Beginnings are solid additions to the Crystal Saga world. Already an accomplished writer, this foray into fantasy is crisp and engaging and I find that I cannot put the book down once I've started reading.
