Bare Essentials is a collection of poems broken into 3 parts and ends with a list of affirmations. Part 1, LUST, explores sexuality, indulging in lust, being confused by it, mistaking it for love and moving on from it. Part 2, MUSE, is about finding inspiration in life, being happy with where you are, accepting things as they are and still being able to find motivation. Part 3, APPRECIATION OF SELF, is about finding a renewed sense of self while maintaining authenticity of who you are and loving yourself as you are. The List of Affirmations ties the book all in by reaffirming that you are more than your mistakes and that despite of what may have happened in the past, you still have the power to change your present.
