Pride: Demigod - Book 2 Following on from Jason's revenge against the London based criminal gang that raided his house and murdered Brygida, Pride starts with the aftermath of that mass killing frenzy. Jason knows that eventually the authorities will link Brygida's murder and the subsequent massacre of the criminal gang to him. Using his time wisely, he prepares, building his wealth and influence, growing his network of influential contacts for when they will be needed. As expected, the police arrive armed with that connection providing more than adequate motive but only circumstantial evidence. The investigating officer becomes convinced of Jason's deeper involvement and won't easily be shaken off. It then becomes a game of wits to deflect the investigation elsewhere and using his new-found political influence to remove himself as a suspect from the investigation. Still under suspicion with the investigating officer, Jason, nevertheless, manipulates events to ensure he is eliminated as a person of interest from the investigation. Feeling sufficiently secure to move on, Jason is once again drawn to America and shortly after arriving identifies someone else with paranormal abilities. Initially shocked and wary at having been also sensed by them, he nevertheless decides to track them down, quickly becoming embroiled with powerful and ruthless individuals who will do whatever they need to achieve their own ends. Determined to maintain his low profile and anonymity, Jason tries to stay clear from criminal activities and violence, while focusing on his own activities but is inexorably drawn in. Jason is soon fending off organised criminals and corrupt police detectives, while trying to avoid further contact or involvement. It soon becomes a direct and violent confrontation as his adversaries start to target those around him and just when he needs it most, his power temporarily lets him down, forcing Jason to rely on his own resources until he can once again bring his power to bear. In the meantime, Jason's understanding and control of his power is growing, drawing him to a devastating conclusion, that if correct risks everyone he cares for and holds dear. For now, he must focus on protecting those he loves and who need his assistance from the immediate threat, but once the immediate problem is resolved, he is starting to realise he will need to face up to an even greater threat, something turns his blood cold with dread and fir which he has no answer....
