"To see a masterpiece of painting on the walls of an art gallery while a throng of conventional sightseers is pressing past is a very different matter to seeing it quietly on the walls of some stately mansion, when there is time to sit down and drink in the artist's thought, or catch the different lights of early morning, of noon, or of the fading day. Frederick Brotherton Meyer was a Baptist pastor and evangelist in England, a contemporary and friend of D. L. Moody and A. C. Dixon. Meyer was involved in ministry and inner city mission work on both sides of the Atlantic, authored 40 religious books, numerous articles and was described as The Archbishop of the Free Churches.
