"The Cycle," highlights various origins and plights of the caste in Eastern Nigeria, seeing as sacrifices to the gods and their existence a mistake, in a village bound by fear of the gods and the need to accept the juicy religion of the White Man that preaches equality and human right. Mike originated from that village with a rotten lineage, a drunk for a father and an Osu (a caste) for a mother. Policed by spirits he never knew and limited by extreme poverty. He lived without purpose till he met a stranger who told him of his father's death and the need to visit the village. On reaching the village, Mike met his Grandfather who was wise with no material benefit to show for his wisdom and a damsel he thought loved him. There, he learnt his history and the bleak future that lies ahead of him if he does nothing. On a bid to survive, love and be loved and working for a boss who saw him as rival in the bedroom, quest for life and power, Mike had to choose between the wise counsels of his Grandfather and his irreconcilable needs. Amid rivalry, struggle to survive, hatred, yearning for revenge, Mike's mother who like Aminata Diallo in the books of negroes, never wanted to be discredited or downtrodden because of her origin or colour, returned from where she sought a better life abroad away from stigmatisation and rejection. Only to realise that her life and that of her in-laws were scripted by a spirit who sort revenge from an age-long offence. They had to choose between giving up and fighting to the finish in a battle line drawn between humans and evil spirits.
