The Tiger has been called an outstanding design for its time, it was over-engineered, using expensive materials and labour-intensive production methods. The Panther was intended to counter the Soviet T-34 as well as replace the outdated Panzer III and Panzer IV. It is considered one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent fire power and protection. Both tanks though suffered from unreliability and the Red Army had a numerical advantage along with new tank designs which would help to turn the tide of World War 2.
