Some of us are aware that match fixing is endemic in team sports, but most of us choose to ignore the phenomenon, thinking it couldn't apply to our team. We fool ourselves into thinking it is happening elsewhere in the world, possibly the Indian Sub-Continent or South Africa, but not at home under our noses. Pulling Strings, brings football match fixing and horse-race fixing into the spotlight because of a murder investigation at Cradbury Town Football Club. The investigation links-in to a drug dealing operation which is an on-going thorn in DCI Broadly's side. His investigations succeed in apprehending several notorious drug smugglers but 'Mr Big' slips through his fingers. 'Mr Big' later reappears in Ireland as a horse-race fixer. As the murder case is solved, the match fixing syndicate remains in the shadows as Broadly continues to pursue the ultimate prize, Mr Big, himself.
