Why would a grandmother give away one of her grandchildren? Why would she hide this from the child's mother? Strange. Identical twin brothers separated at birth lead totally different lives. One lives in the lap of luxury, educated in the best of private prep schools, while his twin barely survives on the mean streets of Los Angeles. Despite their extremely different backgrounds they both become addicted to drugs and alcohol. Even after treatment they again fall back into the addict's lifestyle. Yet there is hope after they find each other and search for the reason one was given away. This tale of redemption is narrated by the doctor who colluded with the grandmother. Years later, haunted by guilt, the doctor seeks to help both twins in their recovery.
