Call her in and claim her now ________________________________________ Words to Wash me Clean The ocean will wash you clean. She is full of salt to spill your tears in. She begs of you, Let your emotions flow, let them become part of the mix of life. I could not reach my soul, So I sat on the shore and I rubbed the messy grit of it onto my body, The Mother sent her waves crashing against my pain, Counter-forcing sadness with joy, She says: Rise up child, come into me now. She sells seashells down by the seashore. The simplicity of that little rhyme eases me in, Comforts me. I keep repeating it in my mind. I wade in, The waves come and go, I learn to float, ride, rise and jump, I learn I can. Then I hear: Leave what you lost by loving what you live Leave what you lost by living what you love. I let go. I let The She of the Sea, Scrub me sound and found. I become the ocean for a week. A vast, bottomless well of healing. I am the motion of the Mother. On the plane ride home, The grief comes up like a Great Whale from the depths of me. I cry again. Then I recall her swell, Her assurance.
