Chasing Oranges is a novel about the madness which some people refer to as humanity. Man's stupidity has turned planet Earth into a seven-sided cube, and humanity is desperately trying to make it to the one remaining quadrant where the sun still shines, to the wealthy and far-off nation of Notobia. A sixty foot wall however separates the starving and oppressed from a seemingly heavenly existence on the shores of the mineral rich nation, pushing some to extreme acts of folly to make it over in one piece. Life in Notobia is however far from outstanding. Whilst the working classes are slaves to mobile devices that control their every move, the richest and the poorest have similarly fallen prey of the Orange, a powerful narcotic, whose notorious side effects include uncontrollable erections and the need to dry-hump anything that moves. One man will find out what happens when he unexpectedly looses his device, catapulting his life into the unknown. Meanwhile, life on the far distant planet of Pazana has seen similar developments under the dictatorship of Uranius the Great. A young resistance fighter will be forced flee, leaving the woman he loves and banished to a life of intergalactic piracy amongst the stars. Years later, his grandson Jack Landan, a struggling writer based in Notobia, will attempt to recount his ancestor's tales of space follies and contraband in his novel. His past and present will inevitably cross with the vicious Notobian underworld, and his fate will eventually lie in the hands of a deranged scientist who claims to have invented a time machine. Chasing Oranges is a bonkers novel. It bleeds imagination and lunacy, like the best of drugs.
