A Pained Reflection H M Knapp

As a young child I went through very traumatic events. I was a teen mom, and made some horrible mistakes; which in turn led to many more traumatic events, along with dealing with serious mental health. Later on, in life I lost several friends to drug abuse, suicide, and eventually, my own father took his life as well. I was on that same path, when I was finally able to get help. And no, I'm not saying I'm healed by any means. Through the course of my 37-year journey, I did find an outlet that was not self-destructive, to help cope with the pain and misery, of trauma, addiction, loss and mental health. Poetry, in its purest form, is very powerful, and very healing. Robert Frost wrote: "Poetry is when an emotion has found it's thought and the thought has found words." in discovering that sharing the deepest and darkest sorrows and the most challenging of victories with others can heal one's innermost wounds, I give to this.... my memoir.
