We have the means to even travel anywhere on the planet, and with our incredible adaptability, humans can not only survive, but thrive. We can make food from almost nothing, and medicine from the limitless chemicals being discovered daily. With the right amount of money, that is. Surely, if something were to change, if an apocalypse - of any sort - were to happen, humans would see it coming and even prevent it. Right? Alex Andrews is a healthy kid who has never been sick or needed to visit the hospital and dreams of a life by the sea with friends and family. When they find a cluster of bumps and wrinkles on their stomach, clinic appointments and cramps become the new norm. If the Andrews Family wants to keep the cameras out of their faces until they find out what's wrong, they must keep it a secret from everyone, including Alex's friends.
